It is with a heavy heart that I write this post. I am utterly heartbroken by all of the horrific things that are being done to Black folks in America right now (and that have been happening for a long time already). I am really working hard on showing up more and not being so scared to say what needs to be said. I always feel so proud of brands that come out and loudly support things like Black Lives Matter, and because I feel very strongly that things need to change, I want to show up that way too. I want to share here some things you can do yourself that are bite sized actions to start showing up. Some of them are signing petitions online, sending emails, making phone calls and donating funds to on the ground organizations. Floralore just made its newest donation ($150 to the Minnesota Freedom Fund for Protestors).
Here is a link to a live document that is being updated regularly with these actions you can take today to make a difference in demanding justice for George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery.
I used this link to help me send emails to relevant people to specifically demand justice for George Floyd.
Here are links to several protests that will be happening in Chicago within the next week or so. I am committed to attending the march on June 6th. I am not completely certain yet about the one tomorrow afternoon, May 30th, a car caravan protest.
As a country, we need to be doing so much better for our Black brothers and sisters.
With grief and anger,
